21|10|16 The Matmut ATLANTIQUE is awarded the Eiffel Trophy

The Matmut ATLANTIQUE won the Eiffel prize on 5 October 2016.

That trophy rewards works made fully or partly from steel material. The Eiffel trophies are a national-scale prize, awarded by an independent panel, to works built in France and designed by architects from all over the world.
The stadium was nominated in the entertainment category and elected among 27 projects.
The trophy rewards architects Herzog & De Meuron and Groupe 6 as well as the builders of the stadium: the FAYAT and VINCI Groups. The subsidiary of FAYAT, Castel & Fromaget, specialising in the use of metal, was significantly instrumental in the building of the stadium. As a reminder, the stadium is built with 12 000 tons of steel i.e. twice the weight of the Eiffel Tower. The use of steel gives the stadium its ethereal, modern and refined aspect that makes it so unique and recognised by all as an architectural success. It is the third prize awarded to the Matmut ATLANTIQUE for its architecture.
