Koudiat-Acerdoune dam

In the Lakhdaria region of Algeria, Razel-BEC has built a gravity-type dam using roller-compacted concrete (RCC), resting on a rocky foundation consisting of marly shale. This dam supplies drinking water to 800,000 inhabitants (annual volume of 101 mm3) and allows for the irrigation of the agricultural lands of Eastern Mitidja and the Lower Isser (annual volume of 69 mm3). Reaching a height of 121 metres, the dam starts at a width of 134 metres at the base and culminates at a width of 8 metres over a length of 490 metres. A total volume of 1,850,000 m3 of concrete was used, including 1,500,000 m3 of RCC and 350,000 m3 of conventional concrete.
